Framed

A study of watches in hip-hop

Framed is a feature story for Hodinkee Vol. 8 that features a series of Jonathan Mannion’s famous photography featuring hip-hop artists wearing incredible watches. I was inspired by the framing you see on film rolls, and knowing that (most) of these photographs were taken pre-digital I wanted to honor that tradition. I brought in the elegant script as a sort of juxtaposition of what you assume a spread about hip-hop should look like, and rather, highlight the finesse and intimacy of these musical heroes and their timepieces.

This story received a Merit in the SPD 57 Competition.
